Are you ready for the new EU General Data Protection Regulations?
For nearly 20 years the Data Protection Act has ruled the way that businesses collect and use information – but all that is set to change with the introduction of the new EU wide General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) on 28th May 2018.
Despite Brexit the UK has committed itself to implementing the tougher and more wide ranging edicts of this European law on information governance. British businesses need to get ready now – or face the possibility of stiff penalties.
Basically the GDPR is about both making businesses far more open in how they collect, store and process personal data, as well as asking customers for their explicit permission when it comes to storing their personal details. Customers will also have right to ‘opt-out’ at any time with firms being legally required to completely delete any data they are holding on them.
As document storage experts Archive-Vault is already trusted by our clients to ensure that we meet all their legal obligations.
